Thank you for your comments, since the launch of our new Call Centre 'CentrePoint' statistics show that we have reduced the waiting time calls are answered by half, we have doubled the amount of calls taken by having dedicated staff focusing on answering patient calls. In regard to being unable to get an appointment Haxby Group Practice operates a same day urgent care clinic at our two main sites Haxby and Gale Farm Surgery. The clinics are run by our advanced nurse and primary care practitioner team, supported by GPs. We also have urgent same day appointments available at smaller branch sites. If all urgent care clinic appointments are full and the patient still has a problem requiring same day care, they are offered a same day telephone consultation with the duty doctor. We feel this offers an excellent same day service for patients who have urgent care needs. Routine appointments, are available 2-3 weeks ahead and will soon be available up to 4 weeks ahead with GPs. These are for patients with more complex care needs and as such we have increased appointment length to 15 minutes to offer a quality service. The service I receive at the Old Forge Surgery is first class as both doctors and staff always do their best to ensure a first rate service. With consideration on both sides I am always able to arrange appointments which work for me, by giving more time for non urgent cases. But when needed quicker access to the doctor is given.During my time with a doctor I always feel fully involved as my symptoms or condition are fully explained for my understanding.Sadly, at this time, there seems to be a national unease with regards to GP services in general, across the country. But certainly in my experience this is not the case as I am very happy with the excellent service I receive from The Old Forge Surgery, Upper Poppleton.

After haemorrhaging when we were away for a few days i rushed my wife to a and e. They were fantastic and gave her some medication to slow the bleeding. They told us to go immediately to our gp for a referral to york hospital to get a scan. We rang the old forge surgery immediately. No appointments. We eventually got them to organise a telephone conversation with a gp which would most likely be at the end of the day. This was on the Monday, already 3 days after we'd been to a and e.We decided to call into the surgery on the monday morning to see if anything had changed over the weekend. The receptionist, who had a shocking manner said it didn't look like an emergency and she had no appointments. I pressed her a bit more and she spoke to a colleague who advised her to squeeze my wife in at the end of surgery. The receptionists response was "well you've had all weekend". Utterly disgusted with the attitude of the receptionist we left.
