🧾 Ingredients

This is an overview of the ingredients. To see the full list of ingredients with measurements and instructions, see the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Healthy Apple Nachos (2)
  • Granny Smith apples: I like Granny Smith apples for their tart flavor. You could use whatever your favorite kind of apple is.
  • Peanut butter: For a nutty flavor and creamy texture.
  • Coconut oil: Thins out the peanut butter and chocolate.
  • Chocolate chips: For a sweet chocolaty flavor.
  • Shredded coconut: Adds crunch and coconut flavor.
  • Walnuts: Adds crunch and nutty flavor. You could also use pecans or another nut.
  • Lemon juice: Helps to keep the apples from browning. Also adds a bright tart flavor. You don't need lemon juice if you're planning on eating them right away.

That's funny you mention apple quesadillas, I made some awhile back for the blog (vegan of course). They were wonderful! I think it was the first time I used apple in a vegan quesadilla.

Yummy! This is a lovely snack. Do you think almond butter would well instead of peanut butter? I have that in my fridge. =) Cheers!

Of course! It is a healthier option too, because almonds are moderately alkaline forming in the body compared to the very acidic peanut. I just happen to love peanut butter, and their price, which is why you will see more recipes with peanut butter here. With that said though, I think it is time I created more recipes with almond butter!
